Local Bias Going On Short Hiatus

Fans of "Local Bias" do not despair! Though no new episodes of "Local Bias" are set to be recorded until after the new year, the show will continue to air throughout the holiday season. We'll air some of host, and executive producer, Drew Hutchison's favorite episodes while he and producer Jimmie Bailey take some well deserved time off to be with their families. If you missed them the first time, in the coming weeks you'll have another chance to hear the views of John Ward (discussing nuclear and sustainable energy), Dan McKenna the president of Principle Profits Asset Management, Inc. (on responsible investing), and author Eve Brown-Waite ("First Comes Love, Then Comes Malaria"). Enjoy!

Thanksgiving Traditions On GCTV

Thanks to Robin Mead of Montague Community Television and our own station manager, Scott MacPherson (who will not only be helping to film the event but who will be racing back to our studio afterwards to ensure it gets on the air), we will be broadcasting this year's Thanksgiving Day Football Game between Greenfield and Turners Falls High Schools even though it's not taking place here in Greenfield. That will air at 7PM on Thanksgiving Day followed by our other Turkey Day favorite, the public domain movie "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians". Don't miss a very young Pia Zadora's debut performance in this holiday classic. For more information on the movie, check out the top rated user comment at www.imdb.com.

Town Meetings From This Week

***All the meetings are now up.***

Due to the number, length, and variety of locations involved with the productions of town meetings this week it is taking us a little longer than normal to get them all up on our Video on Demand service. The School Committee Meeting from November 12th is up in its entirety. The School Committee Meeting from November 17th and the Town Council Meetings from November 18th & 19th are in the process of being converted (we have to split them up into hour long segments in order to fit) and parts of them will be up by midday on Monday. We hope to have them all up by Tuesday. Thanks for your patience and understanding in this matter.

Personal Story: Bulletin Board Notice Encourages Fun

Some of you may know that part of my job here at GCTV is to check our mail@gctv.org address. Occasionally, public service announcements are sent to that address instead of psa@gctv.org. I usually just forward them on but sometimes they catch my eye and I want to learn more. In this case, it was a PSA about this past weekend's fundraiser for AIDS CARE/Hampshire County. On Sunday afternoon a couple of friends of mine and I attended the Chocolate Dessert Buffet & Silent Auction in Northampton. It was great fun; my friends and I laughed a lot, ate some yummy deserts, and even bid on a few items for this good cause---I came away the top bidder on a set of hilarious greeting cards (I'll post a pic on here later). It didn't cost an arm and a leg to participate but it did help people. There are many great events in our community and I encourage you to check out any of the ones you see posted between our regularly scheduled programming. You may be in for a real treat! ---Alicia

Russ Brown in costume!

Russ Brown, co-host of "Dukes of Sports", had a cold and missed the Masquerade Party last month. Our intrepid reporters here at GCTV were, however, able to get a hold of a photo of Russ and his lovely wife, Mary, in their costumes on Halloween. Enjoy!

Steve Alves' Film Series Begins Airing Tonight on GCTV!

Throughout November and December, GCTV will be showcasing local filmmaker Steve Alves by airing his collection of films about Western Massachusetts. The series, entitled "Where We Live", will begin tonight at 8PM with an interview, conducted by Franklin County Chamber of Commerce President Ann Hamilton, in which Steve Alves discusses all the films in the series. This interview will be rebroadcast on Friday, November 6th at 7PM. It's a great way to learn more about Steve, what he does, and the subjects of his films. Click here to go to our website for more information, including a list of air dates and times.
